Job description

I heard a want ad on the radio this week. The job description fit me like a glove:

  1. Very organized
  2. Efficient
  3. Task oriented

So why did Robert let out a laugh when I told him this job was meant for me? Is it because I've "organized" our library into an office, wrapping station and drawing station? As I speak, there is a pink boa , a photo storage box and a pillow lying on the ground. The desk may be covered with papers, an old ink cartridge and even a package of "Pop Rocks". Is it because I may not finish 60% of the things I start? Or maybe because I am almost through cleaning a child's room and instead of fighting through it and finishing, I mosied accross the house to blog?.!

I laughed too, but I sure love my life and my ways.

Free vs Monthly payment

So, I've decided to dust off my blog and post to my heart's desire. The newsletters were fun and I really like them, especially during the FREE trial. But I decided not to sign up and acquire a monthly bill. Who needs an extra bill a month when you can blog for free? So here we go (again), here's a window to our world....

We are pretty much recovered from our lovely "stay cation." Spring Break began with me having the flu and bronchitis. It was horrible, I thought I was knock, knock, knockin' on Heaven's door! Yuk. Cole was on an anti viral b/c he had very mild symptoms of what I had and Cade was on antivirals b/c he flat out drank out of my contaminated Gatorade! Aubrey, well, she was on her Dad's clock. She went with him to the store, barber shop and of course, she came back with new shoes. Good for her! She said she never wanted to go back to the barber shop because it "smelled like deodorant." When it's cash only and closed on Mondays, Robert deems it a true barber and graces it with his presence.

Last weekend I rented a Camaro for Robert to play around in. It was a fun anniversary surprise and thankfully it's 2010 and a mullet is not required! Brian told me to tell Robert, "Let's see if this thing has a governor on it." I thought it sounded like a good line although my delivery was off, way off. We were on I-20 when I said it and he said, "Okay." And we were off to the races until I hollered, "I'm just kidding, BRIAN told me to say it." I gave Brian the report and he said that's exactly how he figured it would go.

Happy 60th Birthday to my beautiful Momma! We went to our favorite hibachi restaurant. There's just something fun about someone cooking for you and then trying to throw food in your mouth! We had Nothing Bundt Cake for dessert. That is some gooood cake. It's really good the day after, too. I cannot vouch for taste after the 2nd day because it's never made it that long with me in this house. (White chocolate is my personal favorite or personal enemy, I haven't decided.)

B-u-s-t-e-d

The kids participated in a program at school where you read 6 hours and they will get a free ticket to Six Flags. They read, we turned it in...signed, sealed, delivered, but since then, Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor started selling alcohol. That is such a horrible idea. Those areas are getting ghetto enough, there is no reason to add beer to the mix. So I told the kids that when they get the free tickets, we are not going to use them and I told them why.

We haven't talked about it for weeks. Fast forward....we had a birthday dinner for Robert including some iced down beer. Aubrey was hopping around the house and something stopped her in her tracks. She waited until Robert and I were together in the kitchen and said, "We can't go to Six Flags because of beer, right?" And we said yes. She pointed to the cute bucket and stand and asked "then what's that?" BUSTED. She is so funny.

They all have to do a science project based on anything they've covered in science so far. And my worst nightmare is here: Cade asked to do the all too generic Solar System. Please tell me I'm not going to be at Hobby Lobby buying those darn Styrofoam balls???!!! I smiled and told him "Ok" but hopefully he'll find something else.

Have you seen or heard commercials for this home Home Health system? From 8am to 8pm a doctor can come to your house, diagnose you and bring meds? Hmm. Sounds good, but if I see a gynecologist on that list I am calling the authorities.

You have red neck potential if....

We are in clean mode...the smell of Pine Sol is in the air and I am really missing some amenities of Desperado Way. I told Robert, "We need tunes. We need surround sound up in here!" He said, "We can put the kids' radios on the same station and turn it up."

Houston, we have potential...I'm just saying!

I've been holding out on you!

***I have totally held on to a story for 3 days. Please empty your minds so you can fully take this story in!!! ***

On Sunday the guys were watching the Cardinals game. I was in one of the back rooms working on my annual photo dvd/slideshow. Which, by the way could easily turn into a featured length film. Hey, 'my b' it was a great year.

Anyways, it was half time and my 3 Kurt Warners were going to throw the football around in the front yard. Rumor has it that Cade left the front door open Rose darted out!!! She has no fear or manners when her paws hit freedom. Again, supposedly Cole had ahold of her collar but let go. So that left Robert to fetch his dog. I was not too concerned. Eventually I heard muffled cussing and Robert was bringing Rose to her kennel. He was angry. He looked at me and said, " I had to get her from inside the neighbor's house!!!"

***Please don't gloss over that! He didn't say, "from the neighbor's yard" or "neighbor's trash." He said, "INSIDE THE HOUSE!!!" ****

He was so angry and humiliated that I kept a straight face UNTIL he left the room. When he left I smiled and laughed and texted Melanie.

Rose went through their garage and into their open door. Robert said he stayed at the door saying, "Hello? Hello?" and then he just had to go get her!!! I had so many questions, but this is the one that came out: "So how is it decorated in there?" LMAO!! And then I said, "this would be a great Southwest commercial...'Wanna get away?' "

Our nice neighbor came over about 10 minutes later to tell him it was o.k. and not to be sorry. What a great sport.

I told Robert that it was not worse than Roxy jumping into the Domino's delivery truck or any worse than the embarrassment the kids cause at the grocery store on any given day.

All is well now, thank God Robert was not treated as an intruder!

Cha Ching

Imagine this scene in our house:
I say, "Okay, c'mon kids, it's time to go." Then you would hear moans and groans, you'd hear them ask, "do I need a coat?" and now, you would also hear a noise that says, "ching, ching, ching." That would be CADE getting money from his ATM!!!!!!! He meets up with us at the front door with loaded pockets and a grin on his face.

He received a personal ATM for Christmas, complete with an ATM card and pass code. He makes deposits and withdraws like a little man. They did not have school on Friday so we ran errands most of the day. We were leaving Wal Mart and the Subway was calling his name! He asked if he could buy his own lunch and I said yes. So I stayed at a distance and watched him get in line, order his meal and pay for it. When we got home, you could hear him make a deposit. How does he earn his money you ask? Well, being a mother with sonar ears, I heard Cole and Aubrey ask him to play 'hide and seek'. He declined, until Aubrey offered to pay him. She said, "I'll pay you two 5's." I don't know if he ever got paid, but they all laughed and played until Rose caught on. At that point, they each got mad because she ratted everyone out.

Mmmm, mmmmm, we ate great food on Saturday. We went to reintroduce ourselves to the Prairie House. It's bbq in Roanoke. But not bbq that is all smothered in sauce...just smoked greatness. AND I had their cobbler for the first time. Peach cobbler. I made Robert a peach cobbler for Father's Day and now that I can compare it to something I know he had a major poker face going on that day. :0)

Surfin' USA!

Aubs has a new talent. I turned the corner to her "room" and there she was..box surfing! Get this girl to the beach! After a long week, it's great to have some GOOD unexpected moments.

Did you know that we had an on call nurse when we were sick? ROSE f-i-n-a-l-l-y acted like a good girl and resembled Roxy. We had the leather sectional, in the living room, set up as our triage station and Rose stayed with anyone who was sick. She detached herself from Robert to lend a paw to the needy. We're going to visit a new church in the morning. We sure did like our pastor and band-worship team at CCV. So the hunt is on...we'll see what we find. Good night.
